Redefining the Word

There are some detractors out there in the world that will tell you the word "build" should mean you're actually building something. As in, from the ground up. But in the automotive enthusiast spectrum, that word takes on a very different meaning. Your car can qualify as a build even if you're just making minor modifications and doing simple refurbishing jobs. And when you're talking about a car that's already nearly perfect like the S2000, that's perfectly acceptable. And it also applies to S2Ki member Luke Wright's Spa Yellow project

Starting Small

"First time S2000 owner here, just wanted a place to be able to log the build progress of this car," Wright said. "I bought it about a year ago and planned to keep it stock for the most part. Since then, I've mainly installed mods that focus on correcting most of the weak points of a bare-bones AP1. A Modifry dash bracket, cup holder, and middle tray organizer were a must since this is my daily. I've done other modifications since, but I'll let the pictures do the talking. Also completely paint corrected the car and flushed all of the fluids."

Out With the Old

The wheels were in particularly bad shape when Wright picked up his car, but instead of having them refinished, he simply scored a used set of AP2V1 wheels for a mere $300 and had them powder-coated white. That alone made a massive difference in the way this car looked. The OEM shift knob was also scratched up and looking sad, so he replaced it with a Renegade Motorsports countersunk knob.

Major Change

The next step was to address the particularly nasty floor mats. Wright located a set of Honda Access mats to replace the originals, which he admits wasn't a very cheap option. But we'd say they were most definitely worth it, if not just for the fact that they aren't disgustingly dirty, but also their clean and modern appearance.

Curated Mods

These few, carefully selected mods have made a dramatic visual difference to this S2000 so far. And this is just the start of what promises to be a cool project to watch, especially if you're thinking about doing some of these types of things to your car. So be sure and head over here to keep up with future updates!
