Boost Your Ride

Most car fanatics already know that forced induction is the path to easy horsepower. That's part of the reason why superchargers and turbos are so popular on not just Honda's S2000, but pretty much all cars. And if you're looking for a bunch of great reasoning on why you should boost your ride, YouTuber Engineering Explained is here to help.

Educational Viewing

Many of you will undoubtedly remember that the man behind EE, Jason Fenske, owned a pretty nice S2000 not too long ago. He also gifted us with a series of great videos diving into the car, including this one documenting his installation of a Science of Speed supercharger.

Light Boost, Big Gains

SoS's blower is of the centrifugal type, which means that it packages neatly under the Honda's hood. Fenske chose to go rather mild in this case, opting for a relatively low 6 psi of boost. Regardless, SoS claims that this kit is good for a significant 100 horsepower boost over stock.

Perfect Compromise

That makes this particular kit a great choice for someone who doesn't want to risk blowing up their higher mileage motor but does want to add a decent amount of power. And that's pretty much the intention here, as Fenske already loved his car just the way it was.

Weekend Job

With a helping hand, this particular installation took a total of 14 hours, which isn't terrible. After all, who wouldn't want to spend a weekend adding 100 horsepower to their ride?

Phone a Friend

Of course, you could certainly do this job by yourself. It just helps to have a buddy when you're doing things like removing the bumper and torquing the crank bolt and supercharger pulley, as Fenske points out.

Total Refresh

Installing a supercharger also gives you a great excuse to replace anything else that might need replacing. In this case, Fenske installed new spark plugs, fuel injectors, idler and tensioner pulleys, and a fresh fuel filter.

Mild to Wild

Fenske went with a Stage 1 SoS kit, but of course, there are plenty of other options available in the aftermarket from a variety of manufacturers. Everything from mild driver level like this all the way up to full-blown race car.
