Doing Battle

If there's one thing we never get tired of watching, it's Honda's S2000 battle it out with all sorts of other machinery at the track. We've seen the little roadster hang with all sorts of cars, including a bunch that hold a decided power advantage. And this clip from YouTuber One Lap Heroes provides us with a lot more of this goodness, as a supercharged S2000 does battle with a V6-powered Miata and Porsche GT3 RS at the legendary Nurburgring.

Hanging in There

What we love, perhaps more than anything about this clip is that it once again proves that you don't have to have deep pockets to hang on the track. Obviously, a Miata or S2000 costs far less than a 911 GT3 RS, but with the right mods and the right driver, they're still capable of keeping right up with the pricey Porsche in the corners.

Power to Weight

In this case, all three drivers are quite skilled. And all three cars have some solid power under the hood. The Miata is powered by a 3.8-liter LFX V6 ripped from a Camaro, which is a solid choice given its power output and light weight. In this case, the engine produces 323 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque, which is pretty solid for a car that weighs barely over 2,300 pounds.

Blown Mill

The S2000 is no slouch, either. The owner has treated its original F22C mill to an HKS supercharger and AEM V2 ECU, which is good enough to raise output to 330 horsepower. It's also packed with KW coilovers, XYZ brakes, and a set of Federal FZ201 tires to help it in the twisties.

Hanging Tough

The Porsche, on the other hand, is apparently bone stock. But a stock GT3 RS is not like a stock anything else, of course. Regardless, the Miata and S2000 hang with the Porsche very, very well in this clip, with the more expensive, purpose built car only gaining significant ground on the straightest of straights.

Matter of Pride

Those gaps disappear quickly when our Japanese duo hit the corners aggressively, however. They fearlessly enter the turns at pretty high speed, braking late and hitting some good lines. Not for any sort of trophy or prize, of course, but merely as a matter of pride.

Getting Our Kicks

We certainly got a kick watching these guys battle it out, and we hope you will, too. If nothing else, it's nice to see our beloved S2000 competing admirably with an expensive, track-focused machine like the GT3 RS. With the right driver behind the wheel, of course.
