Nice Example

Honda's S2000 has been a hot collector's item for years now, and prices continue to climb, particularly for nice, low-mile, original examples. But the Club Racer is arguably the most desirable of them all, as Honda produced only a few hundred of these track-focused models in total. So we weren't terribly surprised to see this very nice Apex Blue example pop up on eBay recently with a pretty stout asking price of just under $60k.

Rare Bird

This particular CR has just 27k miles on the clock and is number 541 of 699 produced. It's also one of 200 painted Apex Blue and comes with all of the original documentation, including the window sticker and books. It certainly looks to be in well-kept, stellar condition from what we can see in the photos, too.

Shaving Seconds

Though it featured the same powertrain as the regular S2000, the Club Racer came with a host of upgrades and changes designed to make it quicker at the track. That included a removable hard top in place of the standard power-folding soft top in an effort to shave weight.

Additional Changes

The Club Racer was also fitted with a stiffer suspension, stickier tires, a quicker steering ratio, and additional aero bits including that signature giant rear wing. Buyers could also opt to delete the radio and air conditioning from their cars to shave a few more pounds off.

Easy Living

While many Club Racers have fittingly racked up some miles at the track, this one appears to have lived a pampered life so far. There's no evidence of hard use anywhere, with no blemishes that we can spot - inside, outside, or underneath.

What Happened?

The seller was asking just shy of $65k for this special CR, a significant amount indeed, but the price was later dropped to $59,950. The listing has since ended, so we can't quite tell if it actually sold or not, or for what price.

Inevitable Exchange

Regardless, we imagine that if it hasn't yet found a new home, this gorgeous Club Racer will very soon. After all, given the incredible interest these cars garner, coupled with this one's rareness and condition, somebody's going to pay good money for it.
