Throwback: Long Beach 2019 Formula D Car Show
Always a great turnout, the Long Beach Formula DRIFT car show brings together the best of what SoCal's car culture has to offer.

It has been two full years since the 2019 Long Beach Formula Drift. That was the last time the glorious stretch of motorsport events brought enthusiasts together in Long Beach, CA. A huge part of the proceedings in SoCal that week, Formula D is about more than the insanity that happens around the street of Long Beach.

FD Car Show
One of the fan-favorite features of the event is the car show. To be able to fully enjoy the show, one would need to get there very early in the morning to start making the rounds. A parking lot on the east side of the Long Beach Arena usually hosts the show. The same parking lot is subsequently used to set up the IMSA paddock for the Grand Prix.

Get There Early!
The reason why it's best to attend the show as early as possible is that by the time the drift cars take the track, there will be so much noise that you won't be able to hear yourself think. Oh, and you'll be left in clouds of tire smoke! Besides, you wouldn't want to miss out on the event, would you?

Enthusiasm on Display
As is evident in these selected photos from Super Street's extensive gallery, the turnout at the 2019 event was nothing short of amazing. With the SoCal enthusiast scene being one of the hottest in the country, it's no surprise to see so many magazine-worthy builds gathered at the event.

BOTB Young Guns
Perhaps the most noteworthy part of the show is SEMA Battle of the Builders regional qualifying for young builders. The Long Beach show was one of 9 qualifying events around the country for builders 27 and younger to have a showcase at SEMA that year. The winner of the golden ticket would receive a free ride to SEMA's BOTB, while the runners-up would battle it out in an online competition to see who goes to the big show.
