Throwback Thursday: SpoCom San Diego 2018
. Here are some highlights from the aftermarket show.
SpoCom San Diego
The 2018 SpoCom San Diego took place on September 22nd. The event featured hundreds of cool aftermarket builds from various brands. However, it seemed as though the event didn't quite have the same excitement built around it as previous SpoCom shows. Nonetheless, plenty of cool cars were on hand for the enjoyment of attendees.
Lacking in Energy
According to Super Street, the show didn't quite have the same buzz around it as SpoCom events in Los Angeles and NorCal. And the energy of the San Diego show was a bit lacking in comparison.

Street Racing Culture
In the years past, there had been more interest around import car shows in San Diego as massive numbers of enthusiasts would attend and participate in the shows from SD and neighboring cities. That was back when San Diego's street racing culture was at its most popular.

Coming back Next Year?
It has to be said, however, that this lack of long lines of attendees at the door likely had to do with the fact that this was the organizing group's first-ever show in San Diego. If SpoCom does go back to SD next year, (which seems to be the plan) the event is bound to be more successful.

Wide Variety
The 2018 SpoCom San Diego featured a variety of different builds such as streetcars, show cars, and VIPs. And as with any import car show, the Hondas were out in numbers.

Corolla AE86
Yes, I know, this isn't a Honda, but a nice AE86 sighting always deserves a shoutout in my opinion.
(Also, it is one of my favorite cars ever!)
