Spring Has Sprung!

Across the U.S., spring has officially sprung. Even if it doesn't necessarily feel like it, depending on where you live. But outside of that little calendar reminder, we know that warmer weather is on its way because the VTEC Club USA has officially kicked off the 2018 season. Even better, Super Street was there to capture all the action. Which, of course, includes plenty of drool-worthy S2000 machinery.

Weather Blows

The very best Honda-focused time-attack series in the U.S. might be based in sunny Southern California, but not even that could keep this event shielded from Mother Nature. It was cold (by SoCal standards), windy, and a little wet. But that didn't dampen the enthusiasm of those in attendance, who emerged for their first action of the year.

Duel of the VTECs

If you're unfamiliar with the VTEC Club, they essentially host six time-attack events each year. Eager Honda drivers do battle against the clock and each other, both for bragging rights and points. They run the Streets of Willow in a clockwise configuration, hoping to close out the season on top.

Come One, Come All

The VTEC Club has been steadily growing in popularity, and their first event of 2018 marked the largest to date. A whopping 120 drivers showed up and registration sold out in a mere 48 hours. As always, there was a nice mix of both beginners and advanced drivers, as well as everything in between. As well as a nice mix of cars, from stock streeters to full-on race rigs!

Eclectic Mix

As in previous years, cars are slotted into five different classes. Lightly modified (and even some non-VTEC cars) land in the base N2 class, while the range-topping Group A features some heavily modded machines. The event is open to everyone, of course. The only requirement? You have to have a Honda!

Safety First

Of course, there are a handful of safety requirements, as with any racing series. Drivers are required to acquire and bring the required safety equipment, pay the entrance fee, and self-tech their cars. Participants must also have had some kind of track experience, whatever that may be.

Cali on Tour

The remaining five competitive VTEC Club races will each be held in a different California track/configuration over the course of the year. Venues include Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, Buttonwillow (counter-clockwise), a counter-clockwise run at Streets of Willow, Big Willow, and the season finale at Buttonwillow in a clockwise format.
