Watch This Type S S2000 Undergo An Amazing Restoration

Mesmerizing Process

Even if you've never restored a car before, the process is fairly easy to understand. However, watching a car go from ragged condition to show a worthy masterpiece is something that everyone loves to watch as well. And this mesmerizing video from Contempo Concept does just that, depicting the rejuvenation of a very special Apex Blue Type S S2000 in just a few minutes' time.

Flawed Find

The restoration shop was tasked with finding an Apex Blue Type S by a customer, which wasn't the easiest thing to do. But they eventually found one, it just obviously wasn't in the greatest condition. The car had just 33,000 kilometers (20,000 miles) on the clock, but the paint was in poor condition, and the interior and top had some flaws as well.

Fresh Paint

Comtempo Concepts began the job by ordering a slew of new parts from Japan, then proceeded to strip the entire body of its oxidized paint and laid down several new coats of Apex Blue and clear coat. They also repainted the wheels before lifting the car up to give the chassis a good scrub down.

Scrub Down

The team scrubbed the underbody to remove 11 years of road dirt and grime, which is an undoubtedly pleasant process to watch. They also installed new brakes while the car was up in the air before turning their attention to the engine bay, which was next in line for a good scrubbing.

New Parts

After everything was cleaned up and looking like new, the team started reassembly. But while this process was underway, they also replaced any parts that didn't look like new. That included the old headlights, fender liners and exhaust tips, and wheel center caps and lug nuts.

New Interior

Along with a new convertible top, most of the interior was replaced with new components as well, including the dash, pedals, center console, steering column lock and ignition switch, steering wheel, door panels, seat covers and belts, kick panels, and much, much more.

Satisfying Result

The owner of this stellar S2000 wanted the car to be perfect, and it certainly looks like the team at Contempo Concepts managed to deliver exactly that. With a repaint, new parts, and a good scrub, this car looks like new or even better than new. And watching it all happen in just a few minutes is undoubtedly a satisfying experience.
