Default Hondata KPro 4 w/ FlexFuel & Advanced Engine Protection completed

We recently completed an installation with Hondata KPro 4 and the ScienceofSpeed E85 FlexFuel System. The advancements of the K-Pro 4 include:
  • faster & more powerful
  • live tuning & autotune
  • Bluetooth & Hondata Mobile App
  • Ethanol Sensor (FlexFuel / E85) sensor input
  • Advanced engine protection
  • Better wideband support (compatible with AEM Inline UEGO Wideband Sensor)
  • CAN telemetry output (compatible with gaugeART and race dashes)

Installation went seamlessly and the components work great together! The ScienceofSpeed E85 FlexFuel system allows easy installation with the appropriate fittings and plumbing to safely install the sensor in line to the return hose as well as a custom made bracket that allows easy installation to factory mounting holes. Installation of the new inputs to the Hondata K-Pro 4 circuit board are via the two included ribbon cables. During installation, make sure to not the proper orientation of the cables, as they can easily be reversed if you are not paying attention. Once installed, the FlexFuel sensor input can be enabled with the click of your mouse allowing you to view ethanol content and fuel temperature from the sensor. You can also add accessory sensors to allow for advanced engine protection.

In addition to these additional outputs, the K-Pro 4 also adds features such as CAN Bus telemetry output to drive devices like gaugeART and race dashes. The integration to gaugeART is about complete, in fact, we're looking for some testers if you're interested!

How do these updates apply to FlashPro for 06+ cars?

Can the ECU be modified and FlashPro updated to add this new functionality?

They don't apply at all.

I understand that this particular post applies only to K-pro and the pre 06 cars... But why would Hondata offer this kinda of update with added Flexfuel capabilities only for pre-06 cars. 06+ with flashpro has always been the way to go because you could avoid having to swap ECUs and add new sensors etc. So should still be even easier. Such as mentioned by modifying the factory ECU with said ribbon cables to add the input/output and a simple software update for the flashpro itself? But of course this is just my speculation.

So, what are the plans for adding functionality/updates for the Flashpro/06+ cars?

With the wideband support, will it integrate to take advatage of the lean protection that the rsx has? I would like it to use the wideband as its main o2 and not just for datalogging. Any inputs to log oil/fuel pressure etc? Wideband closed loop control?

It says you can use the aftermarket wide band in closed loop for fuel control, so should be able to use lean protection as well.

The 2006-09 ECU does not have this capability unfortunately.

Hondata KPro 4 offers closed loop wideband feedback. It is fully featured.

Agreed. I'd like a little more detail. What's the hold back, the physical ECU cannot be modified to accept additional input/outputs like the RSX ECU?
