Sorry to hijack but just wondering if there's any real difference between the spec of the titan 5w-40 and Shell helix ultra in the equivalent 5w-40?

I only ask because i always ran titan in my car until recently when i got some Shell off you on recommendation of a friend. The car seems to use less oil now. wondering if there's any real reason or if it's coincidental?

Hi

The Pro S is ester based, so is one of the top oils on the market. The Shell isn't ester based, but it's still a good oil. Burning oil can be a bit odd, we quite often get one guy who is using the Pro S and says it's burning a drop, but the next guy will say he was using another oil, then went to the Pro S and it stopped burning. Oil burning is often a bit random.

What's your thoughts on Shell's GTL then?

Seems like a good idea to me, less impurities in the oil, but it's a relatively new thing, so not that well proven over time, yet.
