JAWKNEE: i actually bought some stock shocks from an 08, but i wish i had known that before hand. i would have bought yours since they are the same part numbers.

would you be willing to do me a HUGE favor? assuming the springs are still assembled with the shocks and what not and werent ever disassembled, would you be willing to take a picture looking down on the suspension to where you can see the little green painted dot on the top hat and the lower fork bolt in the same picture? i want to check something about the orientation of the top hat against the shock body. I have a slight feeling that i have two passenger side top hats on my car.

you know what i didnt do but i should have done...was measure the free length of the spring to see if i have a bad spring.

muther.....

i would hate doing all that work a third time.

You're overthinking it. The top hats are the same for front/rear/left/right and are the same. orientation is different, but even if they are off you can install the shock into the top of the car, then twist the body to line up the lower end with the bolt.

Andrey is correct. All four tap hats have the same part numbers. The only difference is that the rears have an additional seal that is omitted from the fronts.
