Default Honda Grom

Have you all rode a Honda Grom yet? The 125cc monster that does wheelies and stoppies . I got the chance to test ride one the other day and I won't lie to you all, it was pretty fun! But for 2600-3100 used, is it really worth it?

There is one in town that is for sale. The bike is a 2014 Honda Grom with 1600 miles. It's a little beat up as it's been dropped. 3 owners already in two years...

Any opinions on the Grom?

My friend had one for a little over a year. It was fun for a little wile, as he did a 180 coming from a R1 previously. After a wile he realized how limited the bike was for actually going on real rides. It’s small and underpowered (230lb 9hp)to really be a safe bike on the road with other cars. And its mph limitation isnt conducive for any real travel on the freeway if you had/wanted to. Id say this bike would be fun if your expectation was purely a limited goof off/parking lot bike with friends that also had them. If you can justify the money for such a toy then sure go for it, otherwise id stick to a full size motorcycle. My friend sold his and picked up a 600 Gixxer. He went to both extremes and landed in the middle.

its a cool "toy", but you better have another full time motorcycle to switch over to. Or its a good bike to learn on. If I was 8 to 12yrs old again, Id have one

I roamed the Grom forums for a while and to me it got a little ridiculous. As said above it is a 9HP toy. People were putting 1,000s of dollars in them to boost them up to 11HP wow! Having an S (a 400HP one at that) and thinking about actually riding a Grom was like waking up from a bad nightmare. I like many others find a CBR250R a much better choice for a fun little bike that you can actually use. Or anything else in that class like the Kawasaki Ninja or the Yamaha YZF-R250.

Don't get caught up in the Grom fever, if you start to get sucked in just think 9HP,9HP.

If you are looking for something different, maybe a little more fun, a little more versatile, I always thought that a dual purpose street/dirt bike is the way to go. Look at a CRF250L

It is a much more useful top than a Grom.
