Default Storing S

should I change the oil in my S before I store it? I have only driven 2200kms this season. is it needed or can I wait until next season?

I did about 3000 km this season and I'm changing it before the storage. Clean oil is always better than old one in engine from what I know.

I always put in fresh oil in the fall as it is cheap maintenance (one oil change a year), and less acids sitting in the oil is better during storage. Saying that, today's oils are really good at neutralizing acids compared to oils in the past so there wouldn't be much harm leaving it in there. But if you are going to change the oil in the spring anyways, then the cost would be the same, so I say do it now. Then plan on one oil change a year if you don't drive it that much.

i have 2000 kms on mine too. I am not changing the oil. i use amsoil signature 10w30. I park the car after driving the car for about 30 minutes on the highway after a wash.

just to offer a second opinion contrary to above.

I leave my old oil in especially when I've done sub 3000km on that batch. Oil today is pretty heavy duty not to mention presumably you're using a good quality synthetic. Apart from that, the majority of oil ends up sitting at the bottom of the pan anyway.

End of the day it's preference really. I don't bother changing it but I will drain and add new oil before the new season, some put the oil in with storage and then start the car right up.

I was told that the change after the winter is more important than the change before the winter by a lifetime Honda mechanic.
