Default Anyone do fiberglass work?

Want to (attempt to) fix my j's racing front fender. Tire came into contact with it multiple times (for some reason the other side cleared fine) so there is a portion totally missing. I have the basic idea down of how to do fix cracks and the like but with the area totally missing im curious on the best way to "fill" it. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You'll need to remove the fender, prep a large area around the missing section and using fiberglass recreate the section and have it over lap both the outside and inside for it too hold. Drilling holes where you will be overlapping will help the resin fill in and lock it all together. Hard to tell you exactally step by step without seeing what all is missing

As with most repairs the prep is key. I don't know how large your hole in the fender is, but this video tutorial covers mending holes very well.

I may have made it sound a little worse than it is as I was speaking from memory. Most of the inner mat is still there giving the shape its just the outside where it was smooth has cracked off a good ways around the wheel opening. Sorry for the huge pic but if you zoom in you can get an idea of it

Just wanted to update.. I bought a fiberglass repair kit from advance auto that had the fiberglass mat and resin included. I forgot how much of each but it was plenty to do this a few times. I cut the mat into small pieces and put it on the fender edge, then plastered with resin.. Sand and repeat. I was hand sanding so its time consuming. Still not perfect but I dont expect this to last forever as im sure itll get touched again. Thanks again for the posts

That looks pretty good AE-Racer. I meant to say something about your beautiful German Shepard, we've had several and they are amazing dogs.

Thank you.

This is my first. He's just over 2 years old and pretty much runs the house I havent had any dog since I was a kid so we've learned alot together. Very stubborn when he wants to be but super duper smart and loves us to death. We will definitely be getting another one.
