Default SOS S/C N1200 500whp+ stock exhaust

I had my cylinder head rebuilt by Laskey with some goodies after finding out that the headgasket and exhaust valve guides should be replaced. I had head lift
as I was pushing coolant. It was obvious that there was some leaking by inspecting the headgasket. My S previously dyno'd at 492whp/319ft-lbs DynoJet about 4
years ago on E85. After reinstalling the head, I wanted to get it dyno'd again to validate that it still had similar power on the same fuel. After some tune touchups on
the street, this time it made ~506whp/313ft-lbs on the same Dynojet with about 2 degrees less timing up top and 10 degrees warmer ambient temp. Previously, at
peak RPMs, my timing was at 16.75* and now it's about 14.50* to help lower the cylinder pressures. I'm sure that it could have made a more power having more
aggressive timing with E85 like the old tune, but changing out the headgasket was a lot of work and I like reliability. I had to resist upping the timing for a nice
dyno glory pull, but this is my everyday tune. I would prefer not to do a headgasket job anytime soon again I thought swapping transmissions on jackstands was
a b*tch, but the head gasket job takes the cake.

Here are some pics from my gallery

I wonder if you were detonating a bit before up top with more timing, since yielding less power then you are now with less Or maybe just simple fuel tuning this time, or who knows. But interesting you made more hp this time with less trq. Regardless, awesome numbers

Hey man that's awesome! Great numbers! How much boost did you end up with? ...still +/-20psi?

I got a Laskey Stage 3 cylinder head (port and polish) and flat faced valves. The less trq could be due to less timing and the higher hp could be the port work along with the flat faced valves. The valves increase the compression ratio a little.

Yup, about 20psi. I'm sure that it would be lower with more supporting mods like bigger exhaust and exhaust manifold.

Damn, that is a beautifully linear power band. Torque builds all the way through the RPM's as well.

I remember this thread scared me away from Laskey a couple years ago, but the OP never really followed through with more evidence and this is (to my knowledge) the only incident with Laskey that I've heard about: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/110...oor-performer/

Just from casually browsing I think I've seen a couple other F2* engines on this forum built by Laskey since then that have performed fantastically. If that's the case then that's definitely a good thing, because outside of Inline Pro I think Laskey is one of the only engine builders still around that's trustworthy and does the F series.

Congrats! Nice to see the SOS kit is still capable AND reliable!

What pulley, size and brand, are you running?

What fueling system do you have, and what is the injector duty cycle?

Very nice! I just got my supercharger back with the 1200 upgrade and am trying to push into the 500hp realm myself. I'm glad to see someone else doing it recently.

I fear my only limitation is that I have a 3.2 pulley. But, I also have the T1R dual 70mm, 70mm test pipe, URGE header, SOS throttle body, and Sideways cam keyways. I'm hoping those extra goodies will get me there. I just don't want to have to deal with belt slip issues that I see everyone having with the 3.0" pulleys. I have seen a RR pulley for sale recently, but it was a 2.8". Even with their design, I think that small would still slip, and would severely overspin the blower.
