Default Decat - OEM Exhaust

My S2K currently has a K&N FIPK and a OEM exhaust system but I am thinking of getting a decat pipe fitted.

What I would like is a slightly more aggressive VTEC point and ideally little to no drone whilst motorway driving.

What would people recommend?

Thanks in advance

I had a decat on mine with the standard system and there is no drone. In fact its barley any different to having the cat in place regarding noise.

Drone is always present when playing with breathing mods on an F20C unless you are solely running an induction kit - The OEM exhaust is the best drone-free solution.

Whilst a decat would aid the level and also make the car sound more raspy, don't totally expect it to erradicate the problem completely. IIRC decats are around £80 but I'm not sure it would make a great deal of difference to what you are currently running.

The HKS Hi-Power exhaust is a nice sounding system that doesn't have too much drone. Again, adding a decat to this will aid the boom levels somewhat.

Not sure if you've already done the exhaust mod? If not have a look here this will improve the sound a fair amount with no drone at all.
If you have then add the decat for a little extra, this will also give no drone. I've done both and very happy with the sound now.

I would say the the same as Har_vey not much different to having a cat to be honest but when coupled with the uk exhaust mod ooohhhh yes it is much better

Does it become very loud with say a 28mm exhaust mod?

I want something a little louder than standard but not too loud.

No but it's far superior, and zero drone this is a great mod. Harvey is correct too, a decat makes not a jot difference, either in terms of performance or noise.

It will do very little for performance, it's a high flow cat to begin with, if tuning it will help a lot lower vtec and increase performance.

The exhaust mod with an un-resonated De-Cat is one hell of a sound to beat.

So seems like the exhaust mod is the route to be heading down!

Am I correct in thinking the bigger the pipe the louder it will be....28mm 32mm and so on?
