CA to VA in an S2000
Tis the night before a cross country trip and I've had a few drinks which obviously tells me that you want to hear my story. Early tomorrow morning I'm leaving for a cross continent road trip from Fresno, California to Virginia Beach, Virginia. According to Google it's a 2,816 mile drive (39 hours without traffic) but I think I can make it in 28 hours with vtec...
For background, I have until September to move but I have two cars, one of which is an AP1 with low mileage. I didn't mean for it to be a garage queen but I've driven maybe 1000 miles per year for the last four years. Having not meant to neglect such a car, prior to the move I planned on selling it to a worthy suitor, however, Mrs. McBuff, who has lived in VA for over a year, said "f@#k No". For you see this is the car on which she learned to drive a stick (she now daily drives a TSX 6spd) and she used her magical girl powers (you may know them as tears) to convince me that we should keep the S2000. I thought about having the car shipped but I've read too many horror stories involving shipping cars. F that.
So I'm not a social media whore, but do love this car and want to use this forum to chronicle my trip across America. Oh by the way I'm driving for days alone so you may be my only "social interaction". I'm planning on taking the shortest route which is I40 to I81 in Knoxville to I64 through Richmond. I40 through North Carolina is also an option so talk me into it (longer drive but #smokymountains.) Ill post pics from start to finish. If you want pictures of anything along this route let me know and I'd be happy to detour for you (reasonably). Again I'd like to emphasize not a social media whore, but #heldyballs on instagram if you want to see America West to East.

Best of luck my friend -- I am embarking on a similar road trip (California to North Carolina) in a few days, right after you.
Please do post photos and stories -- I plan on doing the same myself!

I remember driving back from Denver to Raleigh in my TSX. Fair warning, there is absolutely NOTHING in Kansas.

Too bad you are not taking a bit more time to travel; you are going through some of the best scenery for the S in the Western US. It is probably too late but if you are in Fresno (I used to live in Lemoore) take the Sonora pass over. Go to Las Vegas and then see Bryce/Zion/Capitol Reef.
Just check the Yosemite and Caltrans website: all passes are open! Go for it. Tioga pass is great!
May be once in a lifetime. Hangover be damned.
