It would appear that one of the differences between the Aus and US F20C's (F20C1 and F20C2 respectively) is that the Aus version doesn't have OBD II.

I know this is reinvigorating an old thread but is it true that MY 03 Aus Spec s2000's have OBD II?
I had a brief look around my car tonight and couldnt see a connector anywhere (checked passenger and driver sides).
If our cas dont have it, how do dealers check engine codes?

Could be, but then h9k is prone to making fairly wild assumptions at times.
00's don't have OBD II but we do have a diagnostic connector of some kind. Dealers have a unit that plugs in and give codes. You can also short a certain connector under the dash (drivers side, blue connectors) and some light on the dash will flash out the code.
It's all in the CD I gave you.

I doubt this will help much....
on Mitsubishi FTO's and Lancers they have a connector for the same sort of thing....however you can read the codes without using the special computer just by shorting one of the pins on the connector (pin1 from memory) and this makes a light flash on the dashboard displaying the appropriate error codes by use of a series of flashes (eg 3 flashes, pause, 1 flash).
Maybe there is a similar way to extract codes on the s2000 without the correct gear?

Do the Australian cars have a "Check Engine Light"
(or rather a Malfunction Indicator Light, not to be confused with the additional separate Maintenance Required lamp).
This tell-tale pictogram is a cross-secion of an engine, and in US has the addtitional wording 'check engine', the colour is yellow.
This lamp is usually combined with an On-Board Diagnostic system, so it would be crucial to determine wheather or not the car has OBD-II or E-OBD.

wild enough to buy a OBD II scan/software and then realise that there is no OBDII port on your car??
Costak, sorry but I can't recall how I got that info. Prob been told by my honda mechanic. However I am sure that he told me that for the 00-02 he has got a scanner for them....I think it's the OBD I or some sort. The O3 onward need a different scanner
Seipel, I checked the OZ workshop manual(....or so I've been told) last week. There is an ecu pin out for CEL.
