I figured it's time to start a new "official" thread to compile a list of known rattles and fixes. I'll start with one I recently found. The license plate light- the clear lense fits loosely and rattles with the sub. All you have to do is unclip it and add a few strips of electrical tape to the back to make it fit snug.

OMG I keep hearing a really loud metal hitting metal noise! I put the car on jacks and searched with my friend and nothing!

There is a rattle/squeak that can be caused by a dry hood latch. Spraying it with white lithium grease will fix it.

How can we forget that one??? Seems like every tool with a rattle has a loose spare tire nut, while all the owners suffering from real problems never have a solution.

If you include squeaks:

Late model AP2 passenger seat rail squeak. Grease.
Seat belt on top of seat leather squeak (AP1 usually). Felt sticker.
Hardtop seal rubbing on rubber body liner (back). Silicone grease.
Trunk tray rattle with sub. Remove tray or dynamat.
Underbody rattle from broken cat. Replace cat or test pipe.
Soft top latch rattle when top down (and under hardtop). Velcro strap the hooks flat.
Soft or hardtop front latch rattle. Dental pick + foam in the sides of the latch.

when i have my seats moved all the way back, the back of the seat (plastic part) rubs up against the roll hoop and rattles slightly.

also, the passenger safety belt will rattle if its left to bounce around the door trim.

I think I might have the AP2 seat rail squeak you're talking about. I did a search but didn't come up with anything. I get a chirpy sort of noise when I go over rough roads that seems to come from that area. Does this sound pretty similar? Thanks

The little trim piece around the base of the rear view mirror is very loud for its size. Felt tape fixes it.

what about that nasty rattling sound you hear when you're in third gear and deccelerate? do any of you guys get this? i know it has to do with gear backlash in the tranny, but it sounds like a loose plate on the exhaust.

I have a PRM intake and I have a similar rattle. At first I thought it was coming from somewhere underneath my dash, but after giving it some thought, I think the culprit is the intake. Not sure how I'm going to get rid of it yet...

oh lord, where to start...

- the faceplate on my stereo rattles at 4472 rpm
- the dome light cover rattles at 4500 rpm
- one soft top latch rattles at around 900 rpm, the other at around 1800
- shifter has kind of a ring to it on deceleration in gear
- clutch buzz, for sure
- my passenger seat rattles if no one's in it and it isn't slammed back against the plastic behind it
- my driver's seat squeaks against the plastic behind me if i'm against it, if i'm not then that plastic piece is loose and rattles on its own
- some sort of high pitched rattle coming from beside the console door but behind the plastic.
- wind deflector buzzes when it's cold

 it's a honda, not a lexus

I have a testpipe and I have a rattle coming from the back somewhere too, usually at WOT at low RPM range. What is this top tray everyone talks about?

Take it out :)

I am actually thinking of pulling it again and putting foam tape along the fastening edge and putting it back. Mine only rattles in one spot behind me and it just isn't pulled tight by the fasteners in that area. Only really does it on a decel that I have noticed.

I think my top tray is rattling. It happens just behind my head right at 3k rpm. So, yes, i'm in for that fix as well!
