Default For anyone using T1R Half Shaft Spacers...

I've had mine on for about 6 months. These are the half shaft spacers that are split into two. Last night I was driving easy when out of no where I heard what sounded like me running over a bag of metal nuts or bolts, and then those nuts and bolts banging against the bottom of my car. I made it to where I was going and look under the car to check, and sure enough, one of the halves of the half shaft spacer on the driver side was missing and all of the bolts on the remaining half shaft spacers were loose. When I installed them I tightened them as much as I could which was way more than enough, trust me, so I don't understand why they would all suddenly come loose. Luckily my friend had a set laying around so I installed on of his halves and drove home to tighten and loctite the rest of them. My suggestion is to use some kind of locking mechanism whether it's loctite, or a lock washer, or something just to avoid being in the situation I was in last night.

first of all, tightening them "as much as I could" is not a good indicator for ft/lbs at all. I wont trust you on that one. Buy a torque wrench and use it. Locktite them as well for extra security. If you notice, the half shafts came with upgraded Hex nut and bolt, much stronger than the old style when the kit was originally released.

a torque wrench wouldn't fit. by as "much as i could" i mean probably in the range of 100-->150 ft.lbs just from a guess

yes a torque wrench will fit. you need the proper extensions and you need to get creative. 100-150 is too much. 61 ft/lb I believe is the number.

I'd definitely use a torque wrench, loctite, and if you want, some torque seal. The torque seal is nice, cause you can quickly look under the car to see if the nuts/bolts have loosened.

Maybe mods can merge this thread with mine (or vice versa)?

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=742261

I've had varying reviews, some people say nah some people say it'll be alright.

It'd be nice to get to the bottom of it...

Maybe someoen from T1R /AJR can chime in as to what the correct install procedure is, and what the difference is between the 'race' set and the 'street' set is.
