Default How long did your OEM battery last?

Please vote for the best possible option

My battery is now 8-year/8-driving seasons and the last few times I have pushed the start button I was not sure the engine was going to crank over

wow! that is a very long time, but you probably unplug battery or attach a trickle charger.

I replaced the battery in the S when we got it in May. The battery had died over the past winter, making the battery 7 years old approx.

As far as batteries go, I had my Accord for over 4 years and I never had a problem with it. I bought the car certified used and I presume the Dealership installed a new battery before they sold it to me.

My CRX-Si battery also has to be replaced, I was hoping to give the CRX-Si the S battery and get this for the S, but now I'm not sure the S battery is strong enough to give to the CRX-Si...

I'm still on my original one (took delivery in Feb 2002). After my last 'pre-winter' service a couple of weeks ago, my tech told me that he tested the battery, and it was getting to the end of its life. I figure I'll see if it starts next spring.

I remove mine each winter, and just store it on a shelf in the basement, then give it a day's worth of trickle charge before reinstalling it.

I'm completing year 9 on my OEM battery and it has yet to let me down. To be honest, I am completely baffled by my success. I remember asking the Honda salesman if he thought such a small battery would survive even one, Upstate NY winter (He did) and I've never had ANY battery last this long. At this point, it doesn't owe me anything, but maybe I should be looking at possible replacements...

Well I consider my 8-year run a good one.

I put my batteries in the warm basement in the winter, and every other week they get a 3-day long 2-amp trickle charge.

My CRX-Si is now 19-years old, and it has only had 2 batteries, so the one that is in there has lasted about 8-9 years also.

I wonder if part of your situation is due to it being a daily driver

I cant remember if it was 6 years or 7 so I voted 6 but looking at the poll results it looks like 7 years is the magic mark for replacement. On my wifes accord which is now mine we repalced the battery last year so that one made it 8 years. Car is stock electronics wise.
