Default We lost a member, SmirfS2K05

At the request of 9kfever I wanted to share some terrible news with everyone about a member we have lost.

Paul Flores, SmirfS2k05, passed away today at approximately 2:40 or so in the afternoon.

From what we know of the accident, yesterday/Friday evening he was changing diff's in his driveway. Only two jackstands were being used (he was working on two cars) and the tires do not appear to have been chalked. For some reason the car shifted weight and rolled off the stands, landing on Paul.

He was pinned under the weight of the car for somewhere between 20 and 45 minutes without oxygen.
Paul was brought to the hospital, and then airlifted to another hospital for emergency medical attention and surgery to treat his injuries. He had a collapsed lung and major internal brusing.
Unfortunately Paul passed away this afternoon (Saturday).

He was not alone in his fight. He was there surrounded by his family, his girlfriend and young son, and many of both the filthIEst crew and topdown crews as well.

Paul was a truly amazing person who always went above and beyond to help out. Our community has lost a true asset. Our families here in Socal have lost a true friend. But most importantly, his relatives have lost a son, nephew, brother, boyfriend, and father.

Please send your prayers and thoughts to Paul's relatives as they go through this difficult time.

The filthIEst will be taking care of putting together a trust for his one-year old son, as well as keeping people updated with information about his memorial service.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Please watch our thread in the Socal section for those interested in the service/trust.

I feel the same. I know I have done risky things like this when working on my S. You think that everything will be fine, until something happens and the car falls off the stands. It happened to me one time, and thankfully I was in the car and not under it. My thoughts go his family. Safety first guys don't take the route that appears to be fast and easy. Take your time and have the right equipment for the job. Learn from this so you don't make the same mistake.
