Default Shin-Etsu grease...

I have ordered some of this from Honda, to have a go at greasing the hardtop seals in the hope of stopping some of the rattling. The Honda parts dept. have just rung me to say that it's ready to collect, but his description of it made me wonder if it's the right stuff?! He said that it's a tube with a sponge on the end and made it sound more like a liquid than a grease. Does this sound correct? If not, does anyone know what the part number should be for this grease?

My local dealer supplied me with a very small bottle of carbaflo oil and a sponge, replacement for the grease.

As previously discussed, any reasonable quality silicon grease will do. I got a wee tub off the interweb for next to nothing.

Where exactly are you supposed to put this stuff? I keep seeing posts on it thinking I should get some but where exactly do you apply it?
Does it do the same job as gummi-pfledge?

As Gummi-pflege means Rubber-care,I would think so. You have to realise though that there is an obsession with Shin-Etsu on here!

As I previously said........This is the real thing. Not what you should or should not use.
