poorb0y's yellow AP1 track toy
Picked up this clean title AP1 in the summer of last year with plans to turn it into a dedicated track car. Something I wouldn't mind writing off, if things go wrong. Idea here is to have spending limit of no more than $400 per mod, outside of suspension, tires and safety equipment. Total should be less than a base model civic.
Here are a few shots of the progress. Body shop is nearly done with the widebody and repaint.
When I picked her up. Needed some work. Carbon hardtop. Soft top already stripped.
Back home
VIS Carbon trunk I picked up for $300. Had to remove the trunk springs to make it sit correctly
$200 Seibon carbon hood
F1 spec carbon bucket
Took her out to Lime Rock with shitty tires. Fun stuff.
Hated the body roll and slow transition so I picked up some HKS Hipermax Coils.
While I was installing the coilovers I noticed a bushing that was seized to the lower suspension mounting bolt. Missed a couple end of season track days because of this.
Control arms with fresh bushings.
Drove her back home to Houston to see family and store for the winter. Also wanted some bodywork done because I noticed a small rust spot along the lip of the rear fender. Guess the previous owner didn't know to remove the rear fender trim pieces. Barely missed the incoming snow storms on the way there.
My two ladies meet. Hope they get along.
Decided on a full respray. Don't like going to body shops for small stuff so a new front end and overfenders were ordered. VIS replicas to keep it on a budget. Slapped these on quickly so I could get her to the bodyshop. Had a lot of other work to do during the trip home.
Had to spend some time detailing the Porsche b/c my friend who is maintaining it got in a motorcycle wreck and had to leave it outside for a while.
Bodyshop shaving the mirrors and guide coating the fenders to smooth out the waviness of the frp.
Some recent shots from the shop. Still a few details to finish up. Sprayed spa yellow minus the metallic so it would be easier to match if anything gets dinged up on track.
Mods in waiting at home:
Moddiction short shift.
Oil pan baffle.
Forgestar f14 18x10 square in matte black.
Upcoming:
Roll bar.
Harnesses.
Wing for my spare trunk lid.
4.77 FD.
Track Pads.
Stainless brake lines.
And just for kicks, the Sebring AP2 I sold when I moved to NYC. 911 in the background.

Really love how you have done everythng to it just for the track. And the fact that you didnt use metallic paint just so you can match any damage later down the road really impressed me. Great job with the project and be safe
I like the 911 too, can we get some more pics of that?
