Default Rear bumper fit

Hi.

I've had something bugging me since I spotted it not long after purchase of my S2K earlier this year.

I'd noticed at a certain angle that panel fit with the rear bumper just under the rear light (where the bumper has a slight curve) was not as flush with the panel above and I could just see a bit of daylight at a particular angle. It's really not that bad and I appreciate it's mass produced but I was getting paranoid that with the fidgety ride maybe the car had a rear end shunt and something was not right.

Anyway, just been looking at another thread and spotted this on someone elses pic

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/542/p1010239g.jpg/

Very hard to tell in the picture but it looked similar to mine (where I have highlighted in red) which leads me to believe it's nothing to worry about but more than likely due to manufacturing tolerances.

Do others have similar ? My last civic FN2 had a slightly wonky hatch (where the rear light met from the hatch and rear panel) and I noticed on lots of others so obviously a manufacturing / quality issue.

I mentioned it at the last service and the service guy said they checked paint for me and it was original but suggested it may have had a very slight nudge up the back which may pushed it out a little on both sides.

I'm not that bothered about it ..... it was just the worry about it being more sinister that has me paranoid :-)

Mine doesn't ( 2004 car) although i've adjusted the brackets that the bumper fixes to just behind the wheels.

Yep, especially in higher temperatures, the plastic expands more than the metal and is connected at the ends. Therefore it 'buckles' outwards at the panel gap beneath the rear quarter, in front of/underneath the rear light cluster. I questioned a body shop about it when I needed some work doing and the answer was a resounding TADTS!

mine has been like since new (2009). Is only on one side. I have a small list of 'niggles' like this that will be getting dealer to look at before warranty is up. Reassuring to learn that bmper adjustment should rectify. Has bothered me slightly ever since i first noticed it, only on one side and very minor, but just not 100%.

PHEW ..... not wishing anything bad on anyone else btw but feels better that I'm not alone as it's a design quirk :-)

Mine is identical both sides.

Was thinking I might get it looked at to see if it can be adjusted BUT just happy that it's not from something untoward and my fidgety suspension is just that and nothing else.

thanks!

When I first noticed it in summer I thought someone had driven into it!
