Well, if this is what hes asking, the answer is partialy yes. And what i mean is that this way of celebration was used in the past by the previous generations mainly until the 70s or 80s the most. You rarely hear it any more. But the particular movie does not deal with Greeks in Greece but with Greeks in the US. And that is a totally different story because Greeks in the US, due to their love and nostalgia for their country, are far more tradiotional than us here. They tend to be very culturally aware and try to impart this to the youngers so that, no matter how many generations back one is in the States, he/she will never stop to be and feel Greek.
