Default SC kit install

Some of you already know that I am a beta tester for the BRP/SOT/Barker Products supercharger kit. This kit has a modified Roots type blower made by Eaton and comes with a water to air intercooler. The ELF ECU piggyback did not work out, so for now the kit is a tuner version (no engine management included).

There are 2 kits already installed and running. WLaurent has been posting for a while in the Forced Induction forum.

I have been waiting for just over 1 year and just last week I received the bulk of the SC kit. I am still waiting for a couple of parts to complete the kit. I will try to get some pictures of the parts posted later this week.

It will be a while before I start the installation. I have been waiting to actually receive the kit before progressing farther. I have several things to do before starting:
1. Receive the rest of the kit parts.
2. Purchase an engine management system. I am planning to copy WLaurent and go with the GReddy emanage Ult.
3. Probably purchase a 5th injector. It looks like the stock injectors have to run at 100% duty cycle to keep up with this SC kit and even then there are some lean spots in the RPM range. WLaurent has used a 5th injector and it seems to be working out well.
4. Install a wideband O2 sensor and gage. I already have a set up from Zeitronix but have not put it in yet.
5. Relocate the battery.
6. Relocate the AC lines.
7. Install a heavier duty clutch. I have a Competition Stage 3 clutch and flywheel that I have been holding for the SC kit arrival.

I hope this project will provide some interesting reading for the Alabama S2ki members. I know I will have some questions to put on the forum to get some feedback. As the project moves forward (hopefully), any constructive comments/criticism from other forum members will be welcomed by me.

That sounds great.

What is the benefit of running a 5th injector as opposed to running slightly larger injectors like a 550cc? I've just never liked the idea of it. I'd rather use an FMU setup than a 5th injector personally. I'm glad to see you finally getting the kit.

I actually favor the aux injector over a FMU, so you aren't jacking with the spray patterns at high pressure (100 Psi + on the centrifugal SC's)

I'd do you clutch install before the SC, otherwise you'll be taking off parts to get to the trans.

The AC lines will probably be the biggest headache. You'll need to replace the drier if you leave the system open to the atmosphere.

Let me know if you need the AC evacuated, I think we can work a deal out through the shop on a Saturday.

neptuner if you need help with the ULT let me know.

Wlaurent actual has my ULT right now and we have been exchanging a lot of phone calls emails.

I am very experienced with the ULT if you have not ordered your ULT let me know I am sure I have a new one in the box somewhere.

I am not a big fan of the 5th injector because I am worried the addition fuel from the LARGE supplemental injector may not necessarily be evenly distributed to all cylinders.

HOWEVER

Using the large supplemental injector allows you to get additional cooling due to the evaporation of the fuel in the air stream.

My plan was to go with 650cc injectors and run a water injection system activating at 4 lbs of boost.

I am also considering building a air box around the filter and installing a hood scoop or NACA Duct. NACA duct would be my first choice but it is looking like there is not sufficient room above the Siebon MG hood vents to place the vent there and that location is not the most ideal location for the Duct anyways.

I am waiting on an email back from James to setup my payment to them so I can get my beta kit.

But I will need to figure out my A/F problem first before I install the blower.

I am thinking I have a bad TPS and/or a bad MAP....

I might be going back to the Greddy kit eventually

However

We (the shop) have spoken to SOT about distributing the kit and setting up a base map for the Greddy Ultimate. and Possibly making upgraded pulley setup fro those wanting to run the blower a bit harder.

MugenRioS2k - I am looking for an emanage ULT and a boomslang harness to go with it. If you have access to either one let me know. Thanks for offering your help.

I was also wondering about the distribution of fuel from the 5th injector. WLaurent is pleased with the performance of his setup. WLaurent says he is running 75% duty cycle on the stock injectors and 80% on the 5th. I was thinking the distribution might could be improved if the 5th injector could make more than 1 squirt per engine cycle. I don't know if this is possible with the Bosch injector and ULT controller.

Slows2k - Not sure when I will do the AC line relo. I do not want to go very long without AC this summer. Do you have any idea where I could get a used set of AC lines? If I can get a pair of used AC lines, I can remove the end fittings and have new lines made up from them. WLaurent has offered to have the AC shop he used make up new lines for me if I send him the end fittings. Thanks for offering your help too.

I took pictures of the parts tonight and hope to get them posted tomorrow. These are nothing new, about the same as WLaurent posted in the FI forum.

Check here I remembered good ole' chickenknob had a parts car which may or may not have A/C lines in tact. There is also a place in Montgomery that does custom lines but I can't recall the name.
