Default VTEC Problems

My Check engine light came on today when I was in fifth gear and the car felt like it geared down as if it over revved when it is cold. I had been driving all day, so I know that the car was not cold. It had been feeling like the car would miss fire un hard accel, but only in the upper rpm ranges. I thought maybe i needed to change plugs, but the car runs fine at lower rpm and speeds. What do you guys think, VTEC valve solenoid or something else?

If all else fails, take your cat off and make sure it's still in one piece.

Remove the back-up fuse.

Check your oil when you fill up for gas
