Default Decent garages?

So where do you guys take your cars for service? I have read some pretty bad reviews on some of the Honda dealerships around here online.

I just got my car, and I'd like to have it checked out in the next couple of weeks.

EDIT: I live in Pittsburgh, but willing to drive a while if it's worth it.

I'd like to know as well. There's a really good mechanic in East Liberty (Walter's Automotive), but he told me that the S2k is too low to get onto his lift. I ended up taking it to Shadyside Honda for transmission & diff fluids change, and it turned out fine. They wouldn't let me watch them work, though.

Valley Honda in Monroeville and South Hills Honda seem to be the best rated Honda dealerships in the area. But that's just going off of Google, and most people giving the ratings were buying new cars. I'm sure that most dealerships can be very nice to people looking to buy new cars

I'd just like to be able to give it to someone with some experience with the type of motor. I've even read that most Honda dealers have little experience working with the s2000, and have heard they have been known to jack up the prices as well. None of this is good!

I'm very inexperienced mechanically (although I don't plan to stay that way), so having the peace of mind that the car is in good hands at this stage would really help.

For minor repairs, you're probably ok with Honda dealers. For major issues, I know Spt-s2k (Sam) brings his to Hardtopguy, but I think he is located near Cleveland. Hopefully someone knows of a place closer to you!

S2ki diy. Lol... changed my clutch, diff fluid, mulder mod and everything else from this forum. Not a fan of paying people to work on my car.... had a honda dealer do my diff fluid when i got my s. It leaked... so re did it myself. I dont even want to know what a clutch job would could cost in labor on these cars....

That's cool guys, I do a lot of normal maintenance myself. But it looks like at this point in time, GrooGrux is looking for a mechanic who's good on s2k's.

I take the 3 Hondas to Valley Honda for oil changes and my local mechanic for inspections. Valley Honda is pretty decent and have never given me a reason to doubt them. A tech named Dale takes care of my cars every time I bring them in and he seems decent. I've also sat back there and BSd with the service and parts guys before.

As for DIY stuff I am always down to help and I think you will find most members here are as well. As long as I have the time off of work I look at it this way:

You have work to do I am going to help because it is fun, the right thing to do, and I get to practice on YOUR car. hahaha. Then when I need to do the same work to my car I already know how and you owe me some labor time.

Seems to work out well for everyone!

For me, the issue is more that I park on the street and don't have a driveway to work on. I changed my clutch fluid in a parking lot once, but it felt very bootleg

I really havent had to do anything but fluid changes, which i always did myself. If you need service i would recommend Baierl Honda in Wexford. Speak only to Bill Cogenhauer (service writer) and tell him you want Wayne Pert to do the work on your car. These are good guys that i trust. That says alot. Even if you read bad reviews about this dealer, if you ask for these two, you will not be disappointed. Tell them Aldo sent you.
