Default New guy looking for helpful community members!

Hey everyone.

My name is Matt. I am 25 years young and moved to Pittsburgh from the UK around 2 years ago. To cut a long story (somewhat) short, I just graduated, got a job here and have saved up a little bit of $$$ for a car. I like to think my taste in cars is somewhat good, which naturally led me to this forum, and to you guys!

I'd love to get myself an S, and I will be able to start thinking about buying in a couple of weeks. I've always been a big fan of Japanese cars, and would have bought a Del Sol (not sure if you guys call them that here, CRX?) at home if I hadn't have ended up spending all of my money on coming here..!

I have been a member of these kind of forums before, but reading threads over the past few weeks makes me think you are all a bunch of really approachable guys and gals, so I'm looking for someone to help me out. I have never actually sat in an s2000, and have only really seen them on the road. I have a few concerns, of which I have been reading up a lot about (for example my height of 6' 2", or the quality of the soft top), but I'd really like to get to sit in one with someone that knows a lot about them and have a good look around at the same time.

I know I could do this at a test drive, but I have found that people selling cars are usually noticeably more biased, understandably!. And anyway, why would I take advice from someone that wants to get rid of such an awesome machine?!

I live in the middle of Southside. If anyone nearby could spare an hour to show me their ride sometime, talk a bit about their experiences with the car and just generally have a decent conversation, I would greatly appreciate it.

If not, I'll keep an eye out for your next meet.

Thanks!
Matt

Come out to Pittsburgh Cars N Coffee at the Starbucks in Robinson Towne Center. The next one is 8/25.

There were 9 S2000s there on Saturday. Not always so many but bound to be a few.

Welcome to the group! Wanted to get you a couple of answers really quick!

1. Honda Civic Del Sol is what they were called here. Awesome car and I would like to add one to my garage still.

2. I am 6'1 and fit in the car comfortable. My best friend has driven it at 6'5 and finds it manageable but a bit cramped. You will have no problem fitting in unless your legs are the size of people (since the car doesn't have tilt steering).

3. Thanks for the compliments! The vast majority of us are pretty cool (Jumpy Guy excluded ). Come to a CnC meet and you will have plenty of chances to see/sit in an s2k. If my work schedule slows down I will gladly take you for a ride.

4. I have meet up with another member before to go look at an S2K he was buying and even took it for a drive to give him my opinion. If you find one you like I am SURE someone from the board would be glad to go with you and give it the once over.

Again welcome and hope to see you around soon!

Hey Groo, I should be going to the next CnC meet (Aug 25th). Depending on where in the Southside you live, I could pick you up on the way down if you don't have a car. I'm in Shadyside. Welcome to the forums!

Word of warning, though, the high-performance metal at the CnC event may distract you from the S2k's =P

Thanks mate, that sounds fantastic.

I have a couple of friends that might want to come as well. If that's the case I will meet you over there for sure, and if I'm by myself then I will pm you a couple of days before the event. I just moved right next to the GetGo on S 18th, and am currently without car so I really appreciate the offer!

Just been taking a look at the pics from some of the past events and I must say, there's some pretty crazy cars in our area. Sounds like fun

Hey Groo, welcome ole boy! I don't drive an S either I'm not up to their class standards, but they do let me join them from time to time. I would agree that C&C in Robinson Town Center by the airport is the way to go. it's held in the parking lot next to Starbucks by the Ikea pick up building.
Hey group, doesn't Teanza live in south side? Like i said i would love to meet up with you if i had an S. Come on somebody help this guy out - PAUL!!!

Welcome Matt! Great to see someone from outside the area move here and stay after school.

I too live in the South Side, but my S2000 is rarely down there. If I decide to bring it down I will try to reach out to you and hopefully we can meet up.

I do think it would be a great idea for you to make it to a Cars & Coffee Meet (even though I have yet to make an appearance). Hopefully there will be a good turnout of S2Ks so you can meet some different people and get some different opinions.

I have owned mine for about 16 months and love it. I am 6' tall and fit in it fine. It can be snug at times, but I feel that is to be expected.

So I might actually be picking one up this weekend. Good stuff! I'll post a link on here unless you think someone will run off, tell everyone about it and buy it before I do!

So do any of you guys drive the car in the snow here?
