Erik,
I know you're busy trying to get everything back to normal, but how about posting an update to let people know where the upgrade is in the process. It might stop some of the same questions being asked over and over. Can you also put the Return to Top button back at the bottom of every post while you're at it?

Second point, in the UK we haven't got our sig badges back yet, I use these as quick links to other forums and find them very useful, I've noticed the US seem to have them back.

I'm in the US and I still don't have mine yet
I think the ones you see must be applied through the sid editor vs actually being applied to your sig, hope that makes sense.

This is pretty disconcerting guys. The site is slow as molasses and some pages are even timing out on FF 3.5. All these fancy pop-ups and fading drop down menus only seem to slow it down more. The design straight-up blows--far less content fits onto a screen without scrolling and scrolling. Threads are harder to read and follow and we've lost nice features like seeing what color/year a member owns under their avatar in a post. Pictures are shrunken down to a ridiculously small resolution automatically and you need to click on each one to see it in original size (this is 2011, we're not using 800x600 anymore). My full name and address were publicly visible on my profile page suddenly until I removed them.

Since the update, I've only visited to see if the site has gotten better but I'm disappointed each time. If my membership were up tomorrow, I'd pocket the cash and walk away.

Erik,
It's not working. No matter how much I try (or anyone else for that matter), it's not better. There's been no improvement in over 10 days. Call it off, go back to a version that works and call this a failed experiment. I've tried, it just isn't any better. Give it up. You've tried. It's failed. it"s bleeding users left and right. People are tired of this failed experiment. I used to be here 10 or 12 hours a day. I can't last more than 30 minutes or so before I go away. It's not just me, it's everybody. I've tried to use this upgrade, I've given it every chance I could, it just isn't working...please do something about this. I used to come here before I went to any other site on the net...I can't any more. it's too slow, it's too hard to get around, it basically just sucks....please dump this and find something that works...this is not it. From one Algonquin student to another..

Speed is definitely an issue which I'm sure will get taken care of but do you really think this doesn't have potential? I agree putting it out like this may not have been the best choice but we're all here now, not quite as good in all ways but definitely better in other ways.
The search is fantastic so far.
I love the way PM's are.
Not a fan but tons of people love the mobile site. (maybe partly due to it being faster?)
I'm pretty sure the gallery will be awesome.
I actually like the resizing and you're only a click away to enlarging it and once the speed is up I'm sure this will be nice.
You can send a pm without leaving your current window which is very nice.

These are just off the top of my head.

I do wish it just worked but in all reality, these days everything seems to be released with major bugs and patched later. Seems to be a way of life these days

I've been on other sites that are using this version of IPB and slow response times don't seem to be a factor. Incremental upgrades might have prevented the speed problem, I don't know. It's been over 10 days and the problem hasn't gone away. That's not a good sign. Of course it has potential, unfortunately, that potential can't be developed until the underlying problems are mitigated.

IPB has tried to emulate Facebook. Personally, if I want to use Facebook, I go to Facebook. I'm not interested in collecting "friends" like bad trophies. I'm here because people I know and like (and even respect) are here and we share a common interest. I'm sure all the social networking stuff (PM's for one, the little pushbutton "Friend" stamp another) are great on Facebook, but they're just another thing to be worked on and fixed when they turn out to be buggy. The mobile site...see Facebook above.

I have no problem with updating and making things better...if it makes things better. I don't remember that being an issue before. There seem to be inherent restrictions on graphics postings, there's a lack of consistency in what can be posted, and that lack of consistency has frustrated some people.

I wish it worked as well. The reality is that it isn't. You only have to look at the comments posted on the main Forums page to see that people are frustrated, upset (some people get upset at anything, but the vast majority of those posting are people who have been around a while...the very people who make a site what it is). This may turn out to be a great move, it may turn out to be the Titanic of upgrades. I don't know. I do know that where I work, we have a test lab that selects a random group of users to test and verify functionality of new programs. If they say "no", the software is modified and a second group selected and the process repeated. I hope cthree can make it work, I hope that some of the best liked features will return, I just think this would be better served if it had been tested more extensively that it apparently was.
At one time, S2ki was the first place I went when I got up and the last place I visited before bed every day. Now I just open it in a tab, start to load it and go read other sites. I know I can get through two or three other sites before this loads. That's not a very good recommendation. I'm sure that cthree is just as frustrated as everyone else,
(and as a bit of background. At one time I ran the second largest BBS in the DC area. I was the first BBS in the area to be networked, I went through a number of upgrades and improvements. Change isn't always easy and some people get upset no matter how small or incremental the changes are, but when a upgrade caused problems, I always was ready to roll back to a previous version and try to fix any problems that arose. When you take money from people to supply a service, you have to supply the service. I'm hanging on and hoping, but every day like this, it gets harder and harder).
