2013 Meets in planning?
What a great year we've had in 2012 with this group. In addition to the weekly meets in the Phoenix metro area, we've had quite a number of special events and drives that have been huge successes.
This thread:
2012 Meets really got things started and I want to thank Adam for getting the ball rolling last year, and thanks to everyone who planned an event or participated to make each event happen and be successful. From tech days and parking lot meets, to day trips up north and down south, lunch in small AZ towns, caverns, fund-raisers, and the granddaddy of all Arizona trips, the Devil's Highway weekend, who ever did not get to go one one of these knows they missed a good time.
It's still early for planning all of 2012, but we can start the seeds for another successful year if we start soon. It's probably not too early to contact sites for a major meet like we had last January for the whole state to show up.
Who's up for starting a calendar for 2013 Meets?

Thanks Mark. I think this past year was the best year in my 4 years in AZ as far as events and meets go. I hope next year is able to equal this year and we can try to have a drive/big meet every month.
I am taking a step back next year and I don't have any real intentions to plan anything (but might put together a day trip or two). I hope some of the new and existing members will step up this year and begin coordinating events for 2013!

2012 ain't over yet!
I've been meaning to throw a Poll up on doing one more day trip on a weekend before the end of the year. I was thinking Prescott/Jerome or a Kartchner trip, and get some prospective dates out there.

Hey guys, I know 2012 ain't over yet. Before you know it, the holidays will be here and no one will have planned a January meet, let alone an outline for next year. I know there's a lot of enthusiasm for these group drives, so I'm hoping that a few people step up to fill Adams shoes. It can a team and I'd be willing to help.
Maybe we can resurrect some of the drives the "older" crowd did years ago. Roger had a list, I believe, of destinations and drives that we could do. There are several options in the stickied post Adam created for Suggested Drives in Arizona.
Lets start the planning for next year so we don't fall back on the great start we had this year.

I will step up. I would be willing to plan a trip next year to Southern California. I can reach out to the San Diego chapter and hook up a drive and meet weekend that coincides with an event they have scheduled. What's a good month? How many would be interested?

I'm in for a California trip. My wife and I are originally from South OC so we'd be happy to help you out. Always looking for reasons to go back home!
As far as timing, I'd say any time during baseball season works.

Would be awesome to have you guys down here in CA. Like I stated a long time ago, I know great places for a big group out here in OC/LA area. And you better believe that I know tons of good food spots!

I don't recall who organized the January state-wide meet at the casino parking lot this year. It sure was a great turn out. That would be a good starting point, as drives up north might be problematic that month. contact the casino and arrange for allocated space. I'm trying to get my girlfriend out again for the holidays, part time here and part time in LA, so if the first Saturday (Jan. 5) works out, she might be able to join us.
