Default Absolutely Nothing

I'm sitting here at my desk waiting for people to get back with me and I'm sure that I could find something constructive to do... like learn a second language, or write a book. Instead, I think this nothingness more worthwhile.

Currently I am thinking of the color purple and about the funny sight I saw on the late show the other night... Menag a Frog... A taxiderm threesome of frogs in unnatural positions.

Other than that... It's all

You may want to get the thinking about the color purple thing checked out.

Ahhh. So much money, so few lasers.
Is it just me, or does 100 grand seem a bit much for two fiber (optic) lasers?

yep, it sure IS expensive. but it is private money, not tax dollars so we're spending big baller style.

all out of two devices thinner than a human hair and maybe ... fifteen meters in length each? that is pretty bad-ass

standard fiber. just doped with rare earth elements such as erbium and ytterbium. they lase at the wavelengths we need for our project.

for lasers to be used in our nonlinear optics setup (nice tie in eh?) the smaller the bandwidth the better. single frequency is best, but that is kinda hard due to the mode spacing from the laser cavity. lots more details available, but I don't want to clog this already useless thread.
