I think I will go ahead and get an alarm for the car. Just to be safe.

Is Scottsdale the place to live? Anyone know of apartments with 2 car garages?
An apartment is hard enough to find with a one-car garage, let alone two-car. I actually have never seen an apartment complex with two garage spots assigned to the same apartment #, at least not around Scottsdale.

IMO Scottsdale is the place to live for the most part. South to central Scottsdale is iffy, but anything north of Thunderbird is pretty good. I've lived in North Scottsdale for the last 5 years and I have never had any problems.

Some apartment complexes have what is referred to as a "loft" unit, which exists over its own garage and 2 other rental garages. If you can find one of those, you can have the garage attached to the unit, and then rent an additional one. I know there are units like this off the loop 101, more accurately, on Beardsley and 22nd street. Whether they have any openings or not is another issue.

I moved here in May and rented a 2,000sq ft house, backyard, 2 car garage, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom for cheaper than you will ever find an aparment. A lot of apartments I looked at, 2 bedroom, and 1 garage were hovering right around $1,000a month, I am paying more than that, but I got about 1,200 sq ft more, a yard, and big garage. Renting a house is the best way to go now a days!

Yeah before i bought my house i rented a house for nearly the same price as a 2 bedroom 850 sq foot apartment with NO garage... my house is only a few years old and in a gated community. Rent a house, the apartment is only worth it if you want to live right next to businesses(and have a cheap and non risky vehicle), or if you have way to much money you can have a little man with a hat park the car in a lot for you

There are good and bad spots sprinkled through just about any of the neighborhoods you mentioned. Can you narrow it down a bit more, perhaps based on where you'll be working?
