Has anybody gone to the auction before? I've only seen it on TV, so I was wondering if it was a good experience to go, now that I live out here. Obviously I don't plan on buying anything just wondering how close you are allowed to get to the cars.
It is Jan 15-21. All week pass is $160. Monday and Tuesday are the cheapest cost is $15-$25 and Saturday is the most expensive at $55 this year. Most cars are pretty easy to get to but the others, not so easy. Some places you must be a bidder to enter. Expensive but a lot a fun. I used to go when it was cheaper and smaller 8+ years ago. Tickets can be bought from their website. Dealers will sometimes give tickets away with test drives. However, I haven't heard of any yet. There must be other discounters out there too, I just don't know.

We went last year. It was actually pretty cool. A LOT of nice cars out there. When they are not being bid on, most of the cars are on display under tents outside and you're welcome to wander through them.

Out of curiosity, how do you get your car entered into the auction?
If you have an import this is not the auction for you. American muscle dominates the stage and attracts the most bidders.
The car list looks like it is lacking this year over previous years. Yes, there are some good cars but it doesn't wow me this year. I have been to the auction about four times. It is a great place to hang out and look at cars. All of the cars are out under tents for you to walk up to and look at. If you are interested in seeing the cars go early in the week. If you are interested in the bidding make sure you go mid Saturday afternoon and stay into the evening. The amount of money being tossed around is amazing.

It's fun. I grew up going to this every year because of my dad's business. It's kind of funny what it's turned into now - it's so hyped and commercial.
But, that's how you get the excitement... and that equals more money!
