Default Coming for a Visit

Hi Guys,

My wee family & I are coming your way for a mini vacation and we are looking for some things to see, places to go and locals to eat.

Not into big sporting events, we are more into scenic day drives, mountainous views, (I saw your recommended road thread ), historic places, etc, etc, etc.

Looking for recommended restaurants that are quality food but not pricey, breakfast, lunch and or diner.

We will be there Friday through Monday next week so any knowledge of the local scene will help us enjoy your area. Wish we could bring our S but the brats wanted to come.

Also, if there is anything or anyplace you recommend we not visit would be greatly appreciated. ei, bad experiences at restaurants, common speed trapped roads ways, generally bad areas of town etc.

Thanks,

Doug

Welcome.

My main word of advice is to be careful on the freeways. We have speed cameras out here. They are not radar activated, they are timed. If you keep your speed within 10 mph of the limit you'll be fine.

What part of town are you staying in?

Sedona is a good place to drive. beautiful red rock mountains.

17N to the 179, 179 takes you through Oak Creek and Sedona.

Thanks huge guys,

We've got a good deal at a resort 15-20 minute north of the airport in Phoenix.
Whats the weather doing down there?
Is it realistic to travel to monument alley AZ/UT and back without hurting ourselves? Is it even worth spending a full day or more going there, or is there enough to see that is more local?

Will definately check out Carolina's Mexican Food,,, sweat!!! It is saved on my streets & trips, oh ya.

Any more???

Any motocross tracks in the area?

Any major highway or in-town construction that could be avoided?

I think that since they are from Canada, one of the goals of their trip might be to GET AWAY from the snow, hmm?

Astute

Ya, although we are not expecting 100+ degrees, if I take the wife south to show her snow this time of year who knows how much manhood I'd return with.

Thanks again guys & gals, if there are any other places or things you might think a vistor might like to see or partake in, please tell. Restaurants too, we are looking more recomendations as 4 days of nachos can't be healthy.

Found the castle at ext 289, Sedona -> Congress, south mountain lookout, lake pleasant, mountain biking at squaw peaks, and of coarse relaxing between motos.
