Default Dash board removal

Has anyone ever removed their dash ? If so about how long did it take ? I imaging its a pain in the butt and somewhat risky with that air bag.

I had a 5X5 area repaired and after getting it fixed im not real satisified with the repair. The guy got it close but the texture is not the same and is noticeable.

I'm going to let another guy look at it but assuming he cannot make it any better i was curious on the difficulty of replacing the whole dash.

I've seen them on ebay for around 150 but i know the install is the expensive part.

It shouldn't be too bad, I would guess a few hours tops. I am willing to help for the learning experience. I also have a service manual on cd... I will take a look at it later to see if it includes instructions on dash removal. If not, I'd pick up a helms

Where is the damaged area? Could you just cut it out and put a GPS or something in its place?

Ha! no and no

However when/if I end up going that route I'll probably ask for help because the dealer wants almost 900 for just the install itself

I know there's a way to deactivate the air bag system...make sure this is done properly before attempting to remove the dash. When I worked for Chrysler way back in the day we had to tap into the cars computer system to deactivate the air bag system.

you can disconnect the air bag system by disconnecting the battery and leaving it undone for at least an hour

I just looked at my service manual and it says to disconnect the battery and leave it for 3 minutes. Disconnecting the SRS main harness connector is part of step 4 of Dash removal. Its all on this CD I have, just let me know when you need assistance.
