Expensive tags.....
That is why I am glad that I bought mine from a private party... saved on sales tax (my car was exactly one year old when I bought it). And you just discovered the only problem with buying a car new out-of-state... the dealer does not handle the sales tax and you have to pay it when you go to the DMV to get your plates/registration. I am dealing on a Scion Xb right now... with the out of state thing I am having to figure-in sales tax once I get home with it (they are not sold in Arizona yet... I might wait until they are in July).

The government needs it share of our hard earned money you know. It's not bad enough they take so much from the ole paycheck. Say goodbye to the middle class, now there is only the haves and the have nots.
so how would you all feel when i tell you i don't pay any tax on my car? i only pay $25/year for my personalized plate and $10 for the paperwork. it's one of the benefits of being military.
of course, i also made sure i'm a resident of a state w/o income tax (washington) so i don't pay that either.
