Heat
Hey guys, it's the middle of a heat wave here in the north east (NY) and lately I've been getting 4 bars on my AP1 temp gauge w/ A/C on. not a big deal turn A/C off and it goes back to 3 bars. I have fresh Honda coolant, I don't need it to go beyond 4 bars so, I'm not sure if it will go beyond 4 bars. but It's a first in 10yrs. You guys run in the desert so I'm looking for ideas. I also try and keep it under 5000rpm w/the a/c but It's difficult in traffic Thanks.
make sure you have plenty of fluid in the system. research how to make sure it's full. 1 more bar than normal can be just a few degrees hotter than it was running. Maybe there's not much to worry about. You can double check by looking into a EML bluetooth device and using and app like Torque to read the real temps, realtime.
how many bugs and dents in your radiator? Maybe look into cleaning it.
Ever test for Head gasket leaks?
Any oil in the coolant?
have you tested your radiator cap? should be able to find a parts store or radiator shop that can do this.
I hear you can test for a headgasket leak by taking out overflow tube and sticking it into a glass of water (after car is hot and the coolant is circulating). IF you get bubbles after a few seconds than you might have an issue. Could maybe also have someone rev the car up and check as well.

In 12 years of desert driving, I have only seen 4 bars on the temp gauge once. The one time that happened, upon further inspection, a bag had found it's way in between my condenser and radiator. Check for bubbles in the system, the S2000 can be a little more difficult to bleed than a normal car.
