Default Looking

Hey guys, I am looking at a job in Tuscon on Davis Monthan AFB and was just kinda feeling out the area. I'm over here in Albuquerque, NM so I'd imagine the climate would be similar, maybe a little warmer over there.
If any locals would like to give me some pointers on where the decent places to live are or things they wised they did when they moved there would be helpful

How is housing there? Over here its gotten terrible the last few years.
I havent gotten any offer letters yet but its looking like a good possibility.

Also......(this is S2k related ) I MIGHT try to sell my car here and just buy one when i get there. I know its not far but I kinda want to get a different color and I'm only lightly modded so it might be a good excuse. I have a Sebring Silver and want something else (not rio/spa). I'd imagine there would be lots of S2k's (AP1) around the area, is that true?

Thanks in advance!

Nate

Nope, im a contractor and currently work over on Kirtland AFB on the MH-60, and UH-1N helicopter simulators. Lockheed Martin has some A-10's over there and thats what im looking at. I work with Air Force guys all the time though, on an AFB so.....I might as well be Air Force

wow......we dont have massage chairs in my building!

I actually dont work on helicopters themselves, I just work on the simulators/trainers. They are basically huge video games and its an incredible job. I'd love to get into fighters, but A-10's would be alright as well. Out of CA, AZ, or NC (current opportunities) I'd rather move over there....looks like the S2k community is pretty active too. Of course I'd base my career decision on whether or not they have a good car club

back to the original topic........any tips for finding houses? How is the buyers market? Over here houses around the base are kinda overpriced for what they are. I live 20 miles away from work! I'd love to cut that down. I know I could google it but how big is Tucson anyway? any suburbs?

I'd love to answer all your questions, but I don't know enough about Tucson. I'm sure some of our Tuscon S2Kers will chime in...

I can't speak to Tucson but it is definitely a buyers market now in Phoenix. There are thousands of homes on the market and the builders are still building new ones like crazy. You can buy a decent new spec house here for under $200k in some areas.

From what I hear Tucson is a quiet place with three types of people: retired, military, and college students. I've been there a few times and it seemed pretty nice.

Socal has a much more active s2k community but a fixer-upper house will cost you $1M and it will eventually fall into the ocean.
