Looking for a new head unit
My S2000 came with a Pioneer DEH-4300B head unit. I'm looking to switch to something that has the ability to stream audio wirelessly from my iphone (mostly Pandora) and something with a little more power to push the Polk Audio speakers. The current head unit has 14w x 4 (rms).
I've always liked Clarion head units as I've found that they are usually the closet to OEM in terms of styling. I don't want a bunch of buttons and flashing text/lights on the display.
So far, it looks like the Clarion CZ505 seems to have all the stuff I'm looking for:
* streams audio from your phone via Bluetooth
* more power 22w x 4 (rms)
* ability to adjust the color on the front display to match the interior lights
* fits within my budget (~$150) on either Amazon or Crutchfield
It doesn't look like Modifry makes a plug and play harness for the Clarion units, like he does for Alpine, JVC, etc.
I assume the Clarion comes with some sort of a pigtail connection for the plugs in the back of the headunit? I've never done a headunit install. The last time I bought an aftermarket headunit was around 2001 and I just took it to an audio place to have them do it.
Assuming the Clarion deck comes with a Clarion pigtail, do I just order one of these: Modifry Adapter Harness to plug into my OEM wiring harness and then solder the correct wires from both harnesses together?

I used the Crutchfield DCI and adapter harness and soldered everything together with the adapter that came with my headunit. I had to move a pin in the harness since it didn't come with a pin for the headunit control, like it says in Modifry description.
This let my left hand side controls other than mute all work. Might be worth doing this to save you some money to put towards your headunit, though I can't give you a headunit recommendation as I just got a bottom of the barrel Kenwood KMM-108U. Its ugly but I never see it.
This cost $107. $75 for the headunit, $6 for the harness adapter, and $26 for the DCI. Just giving you an idea of what to expect.

You shouldn't need to buy an additional harness. The new headunit should come with a universal harness specific for that unit, and the existing aftermarket headunit would have it's specific harness and the universal Honda harness to plug into the factory wire harness. Just cut the old headunit harness off and solder the new harness onto the existing harness.

How about this one: Sony MEX-XB100BT seems to have a built in amp: Hi-power 40 watts RMS - 100 watts peak x 4 Digital Amp. Its currently 150 on Amazon and Crutchfield.
Not sure if its to flashy for you, but I am considering it for my S.

I went with an Alpine KTP-445U mini amp under the dash and bridged the channels to get 90W to each door speaker.

Thanks for the heads up, I was reading something about having to run a wire to it. I like that mini amp you used.
I liked the specs, and price, on that one, but it is a little too flashy for me.
