Default Lug nuts

Hey guys I have a very serious question. If I bought colored lug nuts would the paint chip off of them? I'm in the market for blue or black lug nuts but I don't want to pay $100 and have the paint chip off when I first torque them on the car.

Depends on how you handle them, but most will end up chipping I think.

Are you on OEM wheels?
Lug nuts have a different seat on them depending on if they are OE or aftermarket. Most OE wheels use a 'ball' type seat while aftermarket wheels use an 'acorn' seat. You don't want to mix and match.

I had a shop powder coat one as a sample one for me and it did not hold up that great. I was originally going to go white with my white wheels but it wasn't mean to be. The Torquing is what causes most of the problem.

I instead went with the black CR lugs and could not be happier. If you go black I'd pay the extra few bucks and get the CR ones. Long term I think you'll be happier with that choice.

I got mine from hardtopguy.

Ok, so I have a new question. Will the black CR lug nuts work on my aftermarket wheels?

No. They will only work on OEM wheels.

Anodized lungs will chip and fade as well. If you want colored lugs, do some research on the forums and see what has been working for people. Whatever you go with expect to have to replace them at some point. Even if you are careful with them, the act of tightening and removing lugs is going to wear the finish on them. There really isn't a whole lot you can do about it.
