NEED HELP~!
ANYBODY KNOW ANY GOOD PERSONAL INJURY/PROPERTY DAMAGE LAWYERS IN THE YUMA AREA....I GOT SIDESWIPED BY A SEMI...YES I SAID SEMI....AND I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP....AND HE SAID HE SAW ME BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHY I STOPPED SO HE KEPT GOING.....
I hope you are ok, and since you posted here I figure you are.
I was rearended by a semi while driving a rental car. The rental was a Chevy Cobalt that was "two upgrades" from the normal because it had leather and heater seats - they were out of full size vehicles. The guy's brakes failed. He hit me three times before he came to a stop, moving me 10-15 feet each time, with my brake slammed on and then spinning me the last time across the intersection.
They paid for the rental and all damages. I walked away. No injuries, just shook up. Insurance companies dealt with everything.
Most attorneys get 33% of what you are paid in settlement and 40%+ if you go to trial. In the vast majority of situations that is money you would have received already - most state's DOI websites publish those facts. I remember seeing somewhere the average attorney represented claimant in a vehicular accident received $250 more than they would have received from the insurance company and netted $100 less. (This means most claims are pretty small to begin with - you have to be really injured to get a lot of money)
If you feel so strongly that you have to hire an attorney at least find out what the insurance company is willing to offer you first. Then go to an attorney and do the math with them. If they can't recover your expenses AND their fees all you are doing is making the attorney money for doing nothing more than you could have done and making us all pay more for insurance.
Hope you feel better. From personal experience I can tell you this was not a fun thing to have happen. I have the camera phone shot of the semi I show to people who don't believe me.
