Default Question

When I came back to my car tonight and started driving I noticed the clutch was very soft. When I step on the first 1/2 it's very soft, I don't really feel any pushback. The 2nd 1/2 feels normal. Does anyone know what could cause this? Someone told me it could be low brake fluid... Is the brake fluid supposed to be filled all the way to the top?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
-M

It doesn't need to be all of the way to the top, just not low enough to suck in air. You might have air in the line. The clutch is pretty easy to bleed so I would just flush the fluid and re-bleed.

what he said, as yours is 1/2 soft my car did it like 3/4 lol. I had to bleed my clutch because i could barely enter gears. Once i did do it, there was so much air in there it was funny as well the fluid was more dirty and black than anything iv ever seen before. So bleed your clutch and you should be fine. Good luck

Is this something they do in the 45K service? I think I might just have to go back and tell them to fix it for me cause I have no idea how to "bleed it." I just went through the 45K like 3 days ago.

I dont think Honda does, they gave me a new clutch for free and didnt add any fluid or bleed it so I just did it myself as it felt like ass.

My old hatch had a leak in the line so I would always lose all pressure until I filled it with more fluid. I would check the lines that go into the slave cylinder (near tranny) and check for leaks on the master cylinder

check your carpet near the clutch pedal and inside the engine bay for leaks

the rubber lines always crack after some time, but bleeding it simple to do on your own but easy to have a buddy so he can tell you when the fluid is running smooth

2 buddies is even better so you can fill, hold pedal and watch the slave.
