Question on Turbo
This is a excellent question. I've always been curious when it comes to superchargers, turbos, etc...because all of these types of add ons add stress & heat to the motor. I would say that it all has to do with the way a person drives their car with these types of add ons but without personal experience I wouldn't know.
I guess it all depends on how hard you drive it and how well it was tuned. If the s2k is your daily driver, I would suggest doing a SC over turbo. While the turbo power and fun factor is much higher, turbos are an all around PITA (expensive, problematic, etc..). A SC will be much more reliable and overall less to deal with while at the same time adding loads of fun.

Both SC and turbo would prolly do the same thing. It is a somewhat loaded question because it all comes down to implementation. I would say something like a Greddy turbo would be just as easy on the car as a SC.
I don't think it would reduce life. It may actually prolong life. It may be harder on other components like the stress on the clutch and the diff.
With FI, you're essentially using compressed air to recycle energy into the motor. This is why many see gains in MPG's.
Bottom line is you're not really doing anything to the engine that it wouldn't do otherwise. You still run 8~9k rpm. You're still 2.2.

What I meant by overboost was pounds such as 22lbs etc. I don't know all the correct terminology so maybe that was not the appropriate term.

That is not overboost. 22lbs or whatever lbs is up to you what you build it to do.
Preference is also irrelevant. You decide on a goal and choose whichever is better for that goal.
In my case, I will be on the track often and want to keep the overall cost down (at least for now). SC delivers linear power and less heat so I went with that.

I prefer turbo. If I try hard enough I can drive the Subie around all day long and not even hit boost. IIRC, SC on the other hand is crank driven so is always spinning if the motor is running. Keep in mind, I really don't know what I'm talking about.
