Default S2000 again?

So I am thinking IF the insurance totals my car, and get all the funds whether to step into another S2000 or my favorite car haha which I used to own. I am completely stuck in the middle. I really love the S2000. I'm thinking S2000 because of reliability, handling, performance, fuel econ than the 740iL is just another world. Although its got a 4.4L V8 its the best gas mileage of a V8 I've ever seen. I tell you once you drive one for a few days its hard to let go of. Me, I owned one and it was hell selling it cause I couldn't let it go. So stuck in between these... What do you think? Thanks

Here is the 740iL I would buy from a friend and my S2K look just like the sign except without front lip and not lowered.

Personally... If the ins co. totals the car out, I would buy it back from them. This typically costs about 25% of the totalled out amt. Then call some junk yards and/or Honda, order or find the new parts needed to fix. At the end of the fairly small project, you would still have a stack of cash in your wallet from the pay out. Unfortunately, you would also have a Restored (once certified by the DMV) Salvage Title. So if you plan to sell in the future, ehh.. But if you LOVE your S2000 like I love mine, that's what I'd be doing.

Obviously estimating and rounding all numbers but...

Ins Co. Pay out: ~$10,000

Cost to buy back: -$2,500
Cost to repair: -$2,500 (Just guessing from damage in pic, and if work done yourself)
Cost to paint: -$1,000 (Guessing for just a bumper and fender)

Cash still in wallet: ~$4,000

The amounts are obviously assumtions, and I'm only guessing by my own prior accident and my insurance experience. Anyone is more than welcome to correct me.

Actually.. I'm wholesaled with SSF Imported Auto Parts and WorldPac, and I can honestly report that my BMW parts were cheaper! The cheapest I could find OEM engine mounts for my S2000 were $ 150.00 each and for my 740iL they were $ 40.00 each, OEMs. Although, some gaskets on the BMWs are replaced like every year. Valve-cover gaskets almost never make it past a year without a leak. So I think parts wear faster on the BMWs. I mean its not like we're replacing engine internals and such, just the annoying stuff lol its hard. I really do like my S2000.

Could potentially end up being like the lady that hit you just wrote ya a check for $4,000 to use up a bit of your time and make you work on your own car a bit. Sweet soundin situation in my opinion.

I think one thing that really pushes me away from a 7er is their variable valve timing. BMW are world known for having noisy VANOS (Variable-valve timing aka V-TEC) There is a fix now, but it requires lots of work.

Man those are 2 very different cars to be looking at. An 740 will never be as fun to drive as an S but an S will never be as plush and luxuerious as a 7 series. I guess it just really comes down to the driving experiance you want. Plush and comfortable or fun and fast? I would go with the S since those bmw's are older than the S for the most part and like Robert said they have alot more to go wrong.

That makes me so sad. Would make a good track car though. How do you treat any car like that let along a nice one? I just don't get people.
