Some of the dealers here. I tried the one's closest to me and they were PITA to deal with. They are smaller dealers and didn't have any s2000s coming in either.

Call and ask for the sales manager or the fleet manager. Then arrange an appointment. I went in and was able to get a reasonable purchase price without messing around. I went to Showcase Honda (3rd largest in US - http://www.showcasehonda.com) and worked with Gary Ede - Fleet Manager.

Tempe Honda, Earnhardt's Honda and Honda Cars of Mesa did not call me back. Which I consider a poor business practice.

Good luck,
Jordan

I hate to send any business to Flagstaff Honda because they suck. They suck worse than any other Honda dealership I've ever been to. And I've been to a few. Did I mention how much Flagstaff Honda sucks???

But, I digress. I picked up my '01 for sticker a year ago and they've had a silver and a yellow in the showroom for several weeks now. (They haven't figured out that if it's in the show room with the top up, the doors locked, and not letting anyone sit in it, they're never going to sell them.

My point is (and you knew there had to be one in there -- did I mention how badly that Flagstaff Honda sucks?) they are probably getting to the point where they'd like to move these things off the lot. Sticker with markup posted on both is $40,700, but so was mine.

Good luck-
Dave

PS If you do buy one from them, you'll have to remove the spring spacers yourself.

now for 40,700 they can truly all blow my deeker! all of them at that location together! gawd damn it aint no M3 i'm buying.. the most i would spend is 35K. I called this one idiot dealer in socal and he goes.. man i have two of them they are soo hot, haul ass, kept on saying some gay crap to make me come in and look at it, as if i didnt know what i'm buying.. .. at the end if i dont find one i most likely will not even buy it and move on to something else.. ohh well

Guess my point got lost in all my bickering about the dealership.

The point is, they've sold at MSRP before, and are likely anxious to sell now, so might do it again.

Good luck! Dave

"Guess my point got lost in all my bickering about the dealership"

hehehe yeah a little bit.. all i've had was bad experiences with local dealerships as well.. i hate when the time comes to get a new car.. you dont really have a choice but to go to a dealership and fight those crooks.

I'll look into that dealer as well.. i plan on hopefully getting one in about a month or even sooner, as soon as i sell my car i'll be ready to buy.. i'm willing to drive out to AZ pick it up and come back to CA.

I'm not really sure what i need to do at DMV after i come back and if i will have any crazy fee's to pay, hope not.

Thanks for everyones replies.

If you are persistent and tell them what you want you can eventually find someone that will work out.

I worked with Abe Saba at Bell Honda, we were working a deal for a 2002 for 33K even....He didn't have the color i wanted, but he found one at a competing dealer (Showcase Honda) and sent me there...who knows a dealer that will send you to the competition just to make the customer happy, instead of making him wait so he could order the color he wanted? I would recommend talking to Abe (internet manager) at Bell. I was able to get Showcase to $40 under MSRP...so it can be done in town..just takes a LOT of work..

I think that Punch got his S2000 for MSRP at Honda of Mesa, last March, so you should be able to get MSRP fairly easily by now.

that sounds good then... lets hope i find one at 33K.. do you have tel number for Abe Saba at Bellhonda? i will call him and see what he can do.. i'm not in a rush to buy one right now.. most likely a month from today or if my car sells next week, then its next week :-)
I'm glad that i will at least be able to get one close to MSRP rather then paying 39-40K because thats a normal price at socal for s2k.

One more thing, does anyone know the following, if i purchase one at AZ, which is like 450 miles from my house.. i dont mind driving to pick one up at all. What will i need to do to register it in CA, because thats where i live. Will i have to pay any special fee's?

THanks for all the help guys! I'd really like to get a 02 in Yellow to continue a new project.. where i left off on my exisiting one :-(

hybrid_eg,

I did the same thing about 6 years ago. California will want all of the paperwork from the dealer (sales contract, etc.). They will charge you the difference in sales taxes between what you paid in AZ and what it would have cost you in California, if you have owned the car for less than 6 months before registering it in California.

They used to charge an enviromental impact fee if the car didn't have CA emissions. I heard that it was ruled unconstitutional, so they have changed it. You may still have to pay a couple of hundred bucks. I think that this was discussed on the board a few months ago, so you might try doing a search to see if you can find any details.
