Showcase Update
Well, here's another update. Big news - Chad MacDonald is moving back to Phx and will be the new service manager at Showcase Honda. Just got off the phone with Darren Gaines.
I took the car in last week for a handful of things - they did a good job, Darren personally communicated with me regularly through the week (I left it there for the week), and was very good to deal with.
FYI - on my top, two of the straps that pull one of the structure bars back as the top is lowered have stretched out, preventing the top from going all the way down w/o some manual manipulation. Showcase has now seen a few cars with the same problem and Honda has made some replacement straps to fix the problem. Unfortunately, they are on backorder.
They tried a temporary fix by shortening the existing straps - this made things worse. (Not their fault - they tried.) If you experience the problem, I'd have them order the replacements and not have them attempt any sort of temporary fix.
I think Showcase is doing a good job of trying to win back our confidence.
As a side note, the company I work with is putting on the Southwest Renewable Energy Fair in Flagstaff this weekend. There is a good sized alternative fuel vehicle expo, and I worked with James Eberhardt - fleet manager - to get Showcase to bring up an Insight and a Civic Hybrid. Together, we'll put Flagstaff Honda out of business, one lost sales opportunity at a time....

Dave,
Thanks for the update. I will be taking my S into Honda Service Center of Gilbert for the spark plug tsb next week. They report to have 2 techs that are Honda trained on the S. I will keep the east valley folks updated on the service provided at this facility.

I just got my car back from Showcase after taking it in for its first oil change. I dealt with John Friedman, who seemed pretty knowledgeable. I had to leave the car so he could look into a few minor items that should be covered under warranty. With my hectic schedule this week, I was not able to pick the car up for a few days after the service was done. When I did pick it up, John had the car re-washed for me (I am guessing that they had already washed it) because it was showing a little dust from being parked outside. Overall very happy
with the service at Showcase.
Is anyone else with an '02 (glass rear window) experiencing a small rattling noise with the top down? The service techs could not duplicate the problem when it was there. I hope it is not just me going crazy.

That's really good news about Chad since he's the only one I've met so far. I'm due for some service pretty soon (oil change) and I really want to get the TSB done. Any idea on when he is going to be starting back up at Showcase?
Chad will be back within the month. That's all Darren said. FYI - Showcase does not yet have the parts for the spark plug TSB. AZ Paradise - I'd check with the service center to make sure they have the parts before you take it in.

Regarding putting my 'hometown' dealer out of business - treating your customers like crap will result in your customers recommending people not do business with you. It's the beauty of capitalism and of the first amendment. This is not a petty, emotional reaction to a disagreement with Flagstaff Honda. This is based upon a series of unacceptable interactions. I'd be happy to elaborate with you or anyone else 1:1.
Thanks in advance for keeping the future negativity off this site.
