Default Speeding ticket advice please....

Well the other day on my way to Vegas I got pulled over and was ticketed at 57 in a 35. The speed limit dropped somewhat out of nowhere and I wasn't paying attention I guess. I currently have a NY license and was wondering if there is anyway to bring this ticket down? I'm unfamiliar with AZ speeding law and was hoping for some insight from others. Should I just pay it and not waste my time or do I have some hope of bringing it down with out a lawyer. It's a $250 ticket. Thanks!

If its marked CIVIL just got to driving school if you havn't here in AZ in the last 2 years it cheaper than the ticket.

If its marked CRIMINAL, call the court where the ticket was served and ask to see the judge. They will say you need to come in on this day between this time and go. Tell the judge your story, it dropped, your from out of town, and if you have never done driving school ask him if he can lower to civil and request driving school.

If you have been to driving school and its marked CRIMINAL not much other than trying to talk to the judge and ask if he can lower the fine.

It's criminal. The officer told me that only AZ licensed drivers can take driving school. I guess I'll be giving the courts a call. Thanks

I've heard through the grapevine that the 4hr Defensive Driving School class is preferable to the online counterpart. I'm actually taking the class in two weeks, and it cost $160 =\

Do you have AZ or NY residency? What state was the vehicle registered?

When I had the NY license they didn't take points from AZ, don't know if that has changed. But if they don't and you don't need to appear in court I would just pay the fine and move on.

I have a NY license and was driving a friends AZ registered vehicle. NY still doesnt take points from out of state tickets thankfully. I just wasn't sure if it could still affect my insurance rates. I have Geico and have had steadily decreasing rates and would like to keep it that way. Thanks for the replies!
