How hard is it to do on my own? And are rhe ones on ebay for $450ish good quality options?

Robbins top. Go full cloth. Many owners have done it. I have a OEM body and truck protector for the install if you want to borrow it. Let me know.

It's time consuming, but not all that hard. Get a Robbins stayfast cloth from Topsonline.com.

Before you buy I'd go see someone else's unless you already have and are happy with the differences in look. Many people speak very highly of the Robbins ones but if you go cloth it does look a bit different. If you're somewhat picky look first in person if you haven't already

I have one piece of advice. Do not take the plastics off the roll hoops. Remove them as a whole.

The cloth looks 100% better in every S I've seen. Seems to retain color so much better as well.

Do the Robbins tops last longer than the vinyl tops? My new top lasted about 6 years before it got a new hole in it.

I've heard storied where they could not keep the 2 peices together after they took them apart. Also, my car sufferes from it because insurance mechanics.

Yeah, they aren't designed to come apart. I've never understood how people "accidentally" take them apart.

If yours are messed up from someone going that they are surprisingly inexpensive to replace. Check them out on one of online parts ordering sites.
